3d printed metal stool
Commissioned by Pierpaolo Ruttico – INDEX LAB – the design was a testing model for a 3d metal printing company. Staying within the parameters of 3d printing possibilities, the stool challenges new fabrication and design methods.
The design aims at finding an optimal shape for a three-legged stool using Kangaroo (Grasshopper 3D). Then, a lighter lattice structure was applied on the form. Finally, through a structural simulation using Karamba (Grasshopper 3D), the structure is optimized again, removing material where not needed.
